Epic Games Announces Plans To Turn North Carolina Shopping Mall Into Mega Headquarters By 2021

In a recent press release, Fortnite owner Epic Games announced their plans to shift base to North Carolina’s biggest shopping complex, the Cary Towne Center.

The gaming giant announced that they have reached a final agreement on the place with Denali Properties and Turnbridge Equities to purchase the center. They will use the place as their new global headquarters and assume that the place will be ready to use by 2024.

Further details on the deal closed between the two parties disclose that the gaming company is paying roughly $95 million for the 87 acre and 980,000 sq. ft. shopping mall. The mega complex is now to be turned into this gaming giant’s new headquarters.

Epic Plans On Initiating The Development Of Its New Headquarters Later This Year

Epic is now moving towards long-term growth and the company announces that they need a combination of office spaces, recreational centers and so on that will allow the company to be united in one complex.

The Fortnite owner further mentions that they plan on commencing the construction and restructuring of the space from this year itself. Till the time this campus is ready to use, Epic will continue to work out of its current base at Crossroads Boulevard, North Carolina.

The property that Epic has purchased was originally purchased by Denali and Turnbridge in 2019 during a distressed sale.

Epic Games mention in their press release that they are happy to work with the town that has given them the space to grow. They also talked about how they want to contribute to the development of this town in particular.

Harold Weinbrecht, the Mayor of the town mentioned that the city is proud to say the Epic Games has chosen this city for its long-term goal of establishing a new headquarters. He further appreciated the mention of Cary’s current assets and this potential in the statement issued by Epic Games following the purchase of the Towne Center shopping complex.
