The lost baggage feature for AirTag, enabling users to share their luggage’s location with airlines, is now available in China for the first time.
China Airlines has officially announced its support for this feature, joining Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines, which adopted it earlier this year.
AirTag Lost Baggage Feature
While you’ve always been able to share the location of your AirTags with family and friends, a November update introduced the ability to generate a link for sharing with anyone.
This feature is particularly useful for notifying an airline about a misplaced bag. Previously, passengers often found themselves in a frustrating situation where the airline claimed their luggage was in one location while it was clearly seen elsewhere.
Apple originally listed 17 airlines that had agreed to implement this feature, integrating it into their baggage tracking systems.
In the upcoming months, over 15 airlines catering to millions globally—including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, United, Virgin Atlantic, and Vueling—will start accepting Find My item locations as part of their services for locating mishandled or delayed baggage.
The rollout has been in progress, with Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines debuting their support back in February.
China Airlines Launch
Apple confirmed that the rollout would include more airlines beyond those mentioned in the initial announcement. According to Liberty Times, China Airlines is the latest to integrate this valuable feature.
China Airlines has partnered with Apple to integrate the airline’s baggage system with the AirTag functionality, resulting in the launch of the […] Apple AirTag Luggage Tracking Application, which expedites the retrieval of lost luggage.
The airline highlighted this as part of a series of digital initiatives recently introduced by the company.
