Epson Promises 4K 120Hz Output Projector For $3,999

Epson is getting ready to unveil one of the greatest 4K projection alternatives it has to offer. Although it isn’t “the” greatest (that honor goes to the LS12000), it is a close second for those wishing to save some money. The Epson Home Cinema LS11000 4K PRO-UHD Laser Projector is the latest model.

The Epson Projector Delivers A Lot For The Price

The projector delivers a lot of similar features at a somewhat lower price of $3,999 (vs. $4,999 for the LS12000), while still leaving enough of a gap between the two models to warrant the flagship option (at least, for those that can afford it). Now that this model is far less expensive.

Pixel shifting allows the LS11000 to achieve a 4K resolution. This is made feasible via a 3-chip 3LCD projector engine, with each chip delivering a 1080p image that is subsequently upscaled to 4K proper at up to 300 inches using clever pixel shifting (screen size). You also receive a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which allows you to bring out the image in both video content and video games.

It supports HDR, boasts a 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio, 2500 lumens, less than 20ms latency (making it suitable for non-competitive gaming), Dolby Atmos, and more. In many aspects, it appears to be a capable projector. While the LS12000 improves on this with a higher contrast ratio, a slightly brighter image, and other noteworthy characteristics.

Many people may find the LS11000 adequate, but dedicated moviegoers and gamers will continue to prefer the LS12000. Neither is good for competitive gaming, but they are both terrific for everything else, including video games (movies, TV, etc).
