NBA 2K23 Announces Cover Athlete

Given that Michael Jordan is the cover athlete for NBA 2K23, there should not be much discussion over the choice.

Dallas Mavericks player Luka Doncic was featured on one of the NBA 2K22 game’s covers, and there was also a cover commemorating the NBA’s 75th anniversary that included Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Classic Jordan scenes from the 1980s and 1990s are replicated in the video game’s action in the trailer for NBA 2K23.

Additionally, it has some vintage Jordan shoes and Chicago Bulls garb. During that time, Jordan participated in 14 All-Star Games and earned the Rookie of the Year award, six NBA championships, five league MVP honors, and an Olympic gold medal (1992).

The first five covers of the game, which launched in 1999, featured Allen Iverson, who was then playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Jordan, who officially left the NBA in 2003, has been on the NBA 2K cover three further times: in 2K11, 2K12 (with Magic Johnson and Larry Bird), and a special version of 2K16.

The Jordan Challenge, which challenges players to replicate 15 memorable moments from Michael Jordan’s brilliant career, will also be made available again along with the reintroduction of Michael Jordan in the game. Additionally, five new classic Jordan moments will be included this year in addition to all 10 of the original Challenges from NBA 2K11 that have been recreated from the ground up. More cover athlete announcements will come in the coming days, according to 2K.

Launch platforms for NBA 2K23 include PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Although a release date has not yet been determined, pre-orders will open on July 7.

In other news, a brand-new triple-A melee combat game is being created by Creative Assembly.
