Apple Achieves Milestone with Record iPhone Sales

Despite the ongoing challenges with tariffs and sales declines in China, Apple and its iPhone have at times seemed “doomed.” However, recent findings from Counterpoint indicate that the iPhone has achieved a significant sales milestone for the very first time.

iPhone Secures Q1 Global Smartphone Sales Victory for First Time

Counterpoint has recently released its global smartphone sales report for Q1 2025. During the initial three months of the year, total sales saw a slight increase.

However, the standout performer was the iPhone.

For the first time in Q1 history, Apple captured the largest market share of any smartphone brand.

The iPhone claimed 19% of global smartphone sales, bolstered by the successful launch of the iPhone 16e.

Here’s a summary of the leading global smartphone competitors:

  • Apple: 19% market share, an increase of 4%
  • Samsung: 18% market share, a decrease of 5%

This notable achievement for Apple can largely be attributed to Samsung’s downturn in sales. While the iPhone grew by 4% during the quarter, Samsung—traditionally the Q1 frontrunner—experienced a 5% decrease in sales.

Samsung had a slow start due to the delayed launch of the S25 series, but its sales rebounded following the introduction of the flagship S25 and new A-series models. March saw significant growth in Samsung’s sales.

We currently lack specific sales figures for the iPhone 16e, making it difficult to gauge its exact impact on Apple’s overall success.

Nonetheless, it’s truly impressive that Apple continues to set new records for iPhone sales, even with its longstanding history of success.
