How Closing Your Apple Watch Rings Boosts Sleep, Heart Health, and Mental Wellbeing

As we approach the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch on April 24th, Apple has released new research findings that delve into the connections between closing Activity Rings and benefits for sleep, heart health, and mental wellness. This data is derived from contributions by over 140,000 participants in the Apple Heart and Movement Study…

According to the findings, Apple reveals that compared to individuals who rarely closed their Activity rings, those who regularly closed them experienced:

  • A 48 percent lower likelihood of suffering from poor sleep quality, characterized by frequent awakenings during the night.
  • A 73 percent reduced chance of having elevated resting heart rates.
  • A 57 percent decreased likelihood of reporting heightened stress levels, based on the Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4), a tool designed to evaluate an individual’s perception of their stressfulness.

The Apple Watch is set to mark its 10th anniversary later this month, having first debuted on April 24, 2015. It was unveiled during Apple’s special event on September 9, 2014.

In conjunction with this new research, Apple also revealed a special fitness challenge for April 24. Additionally, Apple Store locations will offer a commemorative physical pin to celebrate ten years of the Apple Watch promoting exercise and fitness tracking.
