Report: Apple Introduces New Recycling Promotion with Discounts of Up to $20 on AirPods and Other Accessories

Per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to introduce a fresh trade-in promotion at its retail locations this week. According to Gurman, consumers can receive a 10% discount (up to $20) on new Apple accessories like AirPods, AirTags, and Apple Pencil when they bring in an item that isn’t normally eligible for trade-in credit.

This initiative is expected to be officially revealed tomorrow and will last for a month. It appears to coincide with the celebration of Earth Day, which falls on April 22 this year.

Apple generally accepts a variety of outdated electronics for complimentary recycling as part of its eco-friendly efforts. These older gadgets are often ineligible for trade-in credit and might not even be Apple products. With this new promotion, Apple will provide a financial incentive for recycling such items.

Gurman indicates that customers could utilize this limited-time offer for discounts on new purchases of AirPods, AirTags, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch bands, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and iPhone cases.

We will wait for Apple’s official announcement regarding the sales promotion before providing complete details on how to take advantage of the discount.

Promotions at Apple Stores are noteworthy due to their rarity. Typically, Apple only holds sales during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, offering gift cards with the purchase of selected products.
